In summer 2007 I met with the very carismatic lead singer of the band “Parzival” from Denmark, we agreed that I would help them making a music video and some multimedia material for their, then, upcoming album Zeitgeist.

At first we finished a music vide, which was not the piece I am most proud of, but compared to what they wanted it fulfilled that.

Later I made the data track for their CD, which can be seen here.

Following the new albums cover and “flow” of music we designed some video clips to be played as backdrops at live concerts, this backdrop was made in 2 days and media was a DVD.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to continue our work together for various reasons (one being me moving to Germany) but it was a fun experience

I decided to explain my decision of name, because I seem to have to explain what is says every time I speak to potential customers over the phone.

Some time ago I was sitting down brainstorming on some names for something that wouldn’t indicate exactly what I do (since I do not want to limit myself) plus it shouldn’t be specific to language or location (I was living at that time in Sweden).

A Place Between Here, was choosen for several reasons.

simple words (easy to spell, hard to spell wrong)

easy pronunciation (even though I tend to say it faster and faster every time)

abstract yet simple ( a place between here ?).

Well until now I’ve been using a logo consisting of APBH, but was thinking I needed something more.

So I’ve been looking into the meaning of the sentence, and it turns out it was a pretty good decision of name.

Oxford Dictionary on each word:

A

ORIGIN Middle English : weak form of Old English ān [one.]

Place

ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French, from an alteration of Latinplatea ‘open space,’ from Greek plateia (hodos) ‘broad (way).’

Between

ORIGIN Old English betwēonum, from be [by] + a Germanic wordrelated to two .

Here

ORIGIN Old English hēr, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch andGerman hier, also to he .

So in conclusion One Open Space/Broad Road 2 here

Even better than before considering my broad spectrum of services.

Now for design-thinking a logo for that

Image by Meats Meier used for Maya 7 and copyright both of them

Initially at my former employer we needed some PR images, which I did in the CAD system’s visualization application, but the need for moving images came quickly thereafter.

I started to look into solutions for realistic renders and animation. Several softwares were tested and I felt that they all did pretty much the same, I liked Maya’s GUI and therefor decided on Maya (6.0 back then).

We started of by making a introduction movie, which is available for request here

For reasons unknown some scenes made it on to YouTube, here is one which has been edited afterwards by the company uploading it YOUTUBE

It was an interesting process wherein I got involved with video editing (Adobe Premiere), but another post for that later.

Over my time at my former employer I managed to make some 85 still images and some 50 animations for various purposes.

I got involved with many interesting projects, among these were the launch of the new company museum Diesel House, my animations can be found various places at the museum and I made an overview poster that turned out really nice.

But enough about my former employer.

In my spare time I had some other projects going on, one of these were Parzival, an underground band in Copenhagen whom I helped making music video and arrange backdrops for live concerts (though the video is from before my involvement on the live show).

The bands leader likes cheesy-ness and mystical things, so I did a silly UFO for them which became a part of video and live shows.

I’ve been on Maya since version 6.0 and know the versions up until 2009

I’ve done some programming in MEL for workflow optimizations, and started learning python for creating render network tools.

In the process of workflow optimizations I’ve looked into heavy customizations of Maya for studio-like setups (network render and file databases).

One of the other skills I’ve archived is CAD data importing, with all the trouble it involves (fixing translation issues and surface re-modelling).

Renders I’ve used:

Maya software

Mental Ray

Maxwell Render

V-ray

I still do work in Maya as A Place Between here, examples of this will come up in a few days.

My weak points are organic objects, though I still try to do them, my main focus have always been technical, so buildings, machinery visualizations etc. baby’s and people have always been modeled somewhere else, but you’ll see when it gets up.

At my previous work I started working with Unigraphics v.17 shortly after I was hired (march 2001).

My main focus was in the applications Visualization and Drafting, since I was working with illustration for documentation.

I soon got the honors of being super-user and I attended several courses provided by UGS (then EDS), among these a specialized course in large assemblies.

To optimize the workflow process with Unigraphics I’ve managed customizations projects for Unigraphics and have a well in-deep view of how Unigraphics works, we managed to cut illustration time from weeks to hours with relative small effort and simple scripting/programming.

Attending PLMEurope 3 times, one as a guest speaker, regarding visualization and customizations of Unigraphics.

After I attended as guest speaker I was involved in making the following case study for UGS: Case Study-HTML Case Study-PDF

All in all I am an experienced user, 7 years background in UG/NX, programming skills, visualization and designing/engineering.
